Chandigarh imposes complete ban on sale or use of firecrackers; violation to attract penalty

In an Order dated November 6, 2020 the State Disaster Management Authority, Chandigarh has imposed a complete ban on the sale or use of firecrackers of any kind throughout the union territory in order to prevent the risk of spreading Covid-19 due to pollution resulting from bursting of such firecrackers.

The Order also states that a violation in this regard would attract penalty under section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
