Government of Telangana implements automatic renewal of license through online system granted under the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 and State Rules

In a move towards Ease of Doing Business, the Labour Employment Training & Factories (Lab-I) Department, Telangana (“Department”) has exempted applicability of *section 13(3) of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 (“Act”) and **Rule 29(1) and (2) of the Telangana Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Rules, 1971 (“Rules”).

Implication-

With this exemption, the Department will now implement automatic non-discretionary deemed renewal of license through online system, without the requirement of filing of application for renewal, subject to payment of fee prescribed by the Government from time to time, within the prescribed time limit.

*section 13- Grant of licences:
(…)
(3) A licence granted under this Chapter shall be valid for the period specified therein and may be renewed from time to time for such period and on payment of such fees and on such conditions as may be prescribed

**Rule 29- Renewal of Licence:
(1) Every contractor shall apply to the licensing officer for renewal of the licence.
(2) Every such application shall be in Form VII in triplicate and shall be made not less than thirty days before the date on which the licence expires, and if the application is so made, the licence shall be deemed to have been renewed till such date when the renewed licence is issued.
