In a press communication dated 22nd January, 2020 the Lok Sabha Secretariat has informed that it is inviting views and suggestions on the Data Protection Bill, 2019 (“Bill”) from concerned individuals/associations .
Views and suggestions must be sent in two copies with written suggestions either in English/ Hindi and addressed to the Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Room No 014, Ground Floor, parliament House Annex, New Delhi 110011 or emailed at jpe-datalaw@sansad.nic.in or at mrs.mlekhi@sansad.nic.in.
Please note that views and suggestions must be sent within 3 weeks from the date of publication i.e. within 11th February, 2020.
The memoranda/suggestions submitted will be confidential.
Background:
The Bill has been referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee constituted on 11th December, 2019 under the chairmanship of Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi.
