Meghalaya Government issues Standard Operating Procedure for border trade with Bangladesh through Land Customs Stations.

i. Exporters to submit the list of vehicles along with the registration numbers of the vehicles and the names and mobile number of the drivers to be used for export of goods to Bangladesh to respective Deputy Commissioner/Sub Divisional Officers (Civil) in advance.

ii. Vehicles are permitted to have only 1 driver per vehicle.

iii. Drivers must ensure hand and respiratory hygiene as well as mandatorily wear a mask.

iv. During Loading of products, exporters must ensure all protocols prescribed by MOHFW are strictly adhered to, including wearing of mask, social distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette.

v. Each vehicle is to have a label affixed n the windshield indicating the name of the exporter, nature of goods, quantity being transported, and route being followed.

vi. Drivers are to carry packed food so that the vehicle does not have to halt anywhere enroute.

vii. Proper sanitisation of the vehicle is to be ensured before entering Bangladesh and on returning back to India.

viii. Unloading of products at the destination is to be done by Bangladeshi counterparts and the Indian driver must strictly remain inside the vehicle.

ix. Exporters to ensure that the drivers used in the border trade move strictly between the workplace and residence.
