Owing to COVID-19, FSSAI extends time till 1st January, 2021 for Distribution Agencies and FBOs to comply with FSS (Recovery and Distribution of Surplus Food) Regulations, 2019

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”), in light of the COVID-19 pandemic has extended the timeline for distribution agencies and Food Business Operators(FBOs) to comply with Food Safety and Standards (Recovery and Distribution of Surplus Food) Regulations, 2019 (2019 Regulation).

In a Notification dated 26th July, 2019, FBOs were given time till 1st July, 2020  to comply with the 2019 Regulation and ensure food safety and quality in the food donation ecosystem. Now, in a Letter dated 25th June, 2020 the timeline for compliance has been extended till 1st January, 2021.
