Tamil Nadu amends order enforcing lockdown in certain areas of Tamil Nadu till 30.06.2020.; allows specified additional activities to operate

Further to its earlier Order dated 16th June, 2020, declaring complete lockdown in certain areas in Tamil Nadu, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Tamil Nadu (“Department”) has allowed some more activities to operate as essential services during the lockdown.

The Department has informed that:

  1. Prepaid autos, taxis and private vehicles will be allowed to ferry passengers from railway stations and airports. For this purpose, the e-pass issued to passengers from the TNeGA would be sufficient
  2. Headquarters of banks and financial institutions will be permitted to function with minimal staff only. From 20th June, 2020 to 26th June, 2020, bank branches are allowed to operate with minimal staff from 10 am till 2pm for cash transactions relating to distributors and retail dealers of essential items viz. petroleum products and LPG.

No direct services to public will be permitted.

iii. Workers, already staying within the premises of Industries, are not required to be tested for RTPCR.

Managerial and supervisory categories of industries will be issued e-pass by the industries Department for movement in and out of the Greater Chennai Police Commissionerate areas and other areas enforcing lockdown to their industrial units. Such e-passes will be valid for the entire lockdown and must be used properly.

  1. Sea ports will be allowed to handle cargo of essential commodities, medical equipment and other medical services with minimal staff.
  2. Telecommunication, essential IT/ITeS will also be permitted to function with minimal staff. E-passes will be provided only to the workers list provided by the Tele-communication and essential IT/ITeS companies.
  3. In light of distribution of LPG cylinders and other petroleum products being allowed during the lockdown, the LPG/petroleum tankers, trucks carrying LPG Cylinders, Lubricants and other petroleum products, will be permitted without hindrance.

The LPG delivery persons, attendants in petrol pumps, drivers transporting petroleum and petroleum products and the contract labour working in oil companies will be allowed to travel from their homes to work spots during the lockdown provided they carry identity cards/ authorization letters given by the Oil companies and gas agencies. Such persons must wear face masks and sanitize/wash their hands.

vii. Vehicles for milk distribution and drinking water supply will also be permitted.
