Telangana Labour Department amends the Factories Rules, makes it mandatory for occupiers to provide Personal Protective Equipment to workers; w.e.f 30.01.2020

The Labour Employment Training and Factories Department of Telangana has informed that amendments to Rule 61-N (deals with protective equipment) of the Telangana Factories Rules, 1950 will be published in the Official Gazette on 30th January, 2020 and will come into effect on the same date.

With the amendment being notified, occupier/manager of a factory will now be mandated to provide workers with personal protective equipment.

Background :

 

As earlier reported, the Labour Employment Training and Factories Department, Government of Telangana through an order dated 3rd December, 2019, brought in a draft to amend Rule 61-N (deals with protective equipment) of the Telangana Factories Rules, 1950 (“Rules”). Now, the Draft Amendment is being notified.
