West Bengal notifies partial modifications to earlier lockdown Order; complete lockdown to now be implemented on 5th, 8th, 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th and 31st August, 2020

The Government of West Bengal has changed the dates for implementation of complete State-wide lockdown.

Pursuant to requests and appeals to relax lockdown in the State on dates coinciding with festivals and local community-based customs, the Government of West Bengal has made partial modifications to the earlier lockdown Order and notified that the State will be under complete lockdown on the following days –

Wednesday 5th August; Saturday 8th August; Thursday 20th August; Friday 21st August; Thursday 27th August; Friday 28th August and Monday 31st August.

Background:

As per the earlier Order, State-wide complete lockdown was to be observed on Wednesday 5th August; Saturday 8th August; Sunday 16th August; Monday 17th August; Sunday 23rd August; Saturday 24th August and Monday 31st August.

Therefore, while the lockdown on 5th August, 8th August and 31st August have been retained, the 16th August lockdown has been moved to 20th August; 17th August lockdown has been moved to 21st August; lockdown on 23rd August has been moved to 27th August and the 24th August lockdown has been moved to 28th August.
