Government mandates registration of Internal Committees on SHE-BOX Portal; deadline for Mumbai District establishments set for 15th May 2025

The District Women and Child Development Officer of Mumbai City has issued a public notice requiring all private establishments in Mumbai District to register the details of their Internal Committees (“IC”) on the SHE-BOX Portal, in compliance with Section 4 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (“POSH Act”).

Key Highlights:

1. All workplaces with 10 or more employees are mandatorily required to constitute an Internal Committee (“IC”) under Section 4 of the POSH Act.
2. Failure to constitute an IC is a violation of the POSH Act and may attract penal consequences, including a monetary penalty of up to ₹50,000.
3. To ensure enforcement, the Government has directed mandatory registration of all Internal Committees on the SHe-BOX Portal (https://shebox.wcd.gov.in).
4. All private establishments in Mumbai District must complete this registration on or before 15th May 2025.
