Gujarat PCB implements GPS based Hazardous Waste Vehicle Location tracking system; industries/actual users to update XGN profile and vehicles transporting hazardous waste to have AIS-140 GPS device fitted
The Gujarat Pollution Control Board has implemented GPS / GIS based Hazardous Waste Vehicle Location tracking system (“VLTS”) under the Hazardous and Other Waste ( Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 where the route of hazardous waste carrying vehicle/s can be monitored to ensure that such trucks ply only on the pre-decided routes for the disposal / transportation of the hazardous waste only at the destination as decided at the time of generation of the manifest.
Key Highlights-
a) All generators / common hazardous waste facilities having vehicles for transportation of hazardous waste to have AIS-140 Compliant Global Poisoning System (GPS) devices. The AIS-140 should be installed with GPS within 15 days.
b) All industries and actual users to update their XGN profile with factual latitude and longitude within 18th July, 2022
c) All hazardous waste generators are required to be informed that facility of online generation of manifest will be disabled for all those not having AIS-140 compliant GPS device fitted vehicle and factual entry of latitude-longitude in XGN portal after 15 days.
