Import Restrictions Not to Extend to other goods, such as Desktop Computers, falling under tariff head 8471

restrictions pertaining to import of laptops, tablets, personal computers etc. (please check e-mail in trail for details), the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (“DGFT”) has clarified that the import of Laptops, Tablets, All-in-one Personal Computers, Ultra small form factor Computers, and Servers categorized under HSN 8471 is “Restricted”, is permissible solely with a valid Import Authorization specific to these five item categories. This Import Restriction does not extend to other goods, such as Desktop Computers, falling under tariff head 8471.
