FSSAI re-iterates Compliance Norms for E-Commerce Food Platforms

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has re-iterated the critical importance of food safety in the e-commerce marketplace and reinforced the stringent food safety norms for e-commerce platforms across India.

Key Highlights:

  1. Mandatory display of FSSAI licence/registration numbers on all consumer documents (receipts, invoices, cash memos), along with information about the Food Safety Connect App.
  2. Make full disclosure of warehouse/storage facility details including photo to the FoSCoS portal and ensure that such facilities are duly registered or licensed FSSAI.
  3. Mandatory FoSTaC training and certification for every food-handler in the supply chain (including third-party and delivery staff), with platforms required to provide training plans and schedules to FSSAI.
  4. Strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures under the FSS Act, 2006.
  5. Platforms must share operational data including about warehouses and food handlers with FSSAI to ensure transparency.
