Centre imposes stock limit on wheat till 31st March 2024: casts obligation on entities to declare stock position online on Food and Public Distribution portal: applicable to wholesalers, retailers, big chain retailers and processors

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has imposed stock limits on Wheat: applicable to Traders/Wholesaler, Retailers, Big Chain Retailers and Processors for all States and Union Territories immediately till 31st March 2024. This is under the Removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Amendment) Order, 2023.

The stock limits prescribed under this Order is applicable to all States and Union Territories and as follows:
a) Traders/ Wholesaler: 300 Metric Unit (“MT”).
b) Retailer: 10 MT for each retail outlet.
c) Big chain retailers: 10 MT for each outlet and 3000 MT at all their depot.
d) Processors: 75% of annual installed capacity or quantity equivalent to monthly installed capacity multiplied by remaining months of 2023-24, whichever is less.

The above-mentioned entities are required to declare the stocks position on the portal (https://evegoils.nic.in/wsp/login) of Department of Food and Public Distribution and in case the stocks held are higher than the prescribed limits, then it should be brought to the prescribed stock limits within 30 days.

It is to be ensured that Wheat stock is regularly declared and updated on the portal of this Department i.e. (https://evegoils.nic.in/wsp/login).
