Delhi Government issues draft Notification under Environment Protection Act with a view to curb air pollution; directs aggregators and delivery service providers to adopt electric vehicles; invites objections or suggestions till 9th April, 2022

The Environment Department of Delhi has issued draft Notification to curb air pollution in Delhi, under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
Objections or suggestions to the draft Notification, if any, may be addressed to the Principal Secretary, Department of Environment, Government of NCT of Delhi, 6th Level, ‘C’ – Wing, Delhi Secretariat, I.P Estate, New Delhi-110002 or on e-mail at senv@nic.in by 9th April, 2022.
The Transport Department, Government of NCT of Delhi is directed to ensure that all the aggregators and delivery service providers (e.g., food delivery, e-commerce logistics providers, couriers) adopt electric vehicles in terms of induction in the new onboarded fleet as per the following proportion, subject to further review:
| Adoption of electric vehicles | Within three months | Within 31st March, 2023 |
| Two wheelers | 10 % | 50 % |
| Four wheelers | 5 % | 25 % |
Any violation of the above directions shall be punishable under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 which may include imprisonment upto five years and / or with fine which may extend to Rs. One Lakh or with both.
Quarterly reports are required to be submitted to the Environment Department of NCT of Delhi on implementation of above-mentioned through e-mail at: senv@nic.in. in prescribed format.
