Foreign Firms Manufacturing Facility to be Mandatorily Registered on or before 1st February 2023: FSSAI

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in exercise of the provision of Food Safety and Standards (Import) First Amendment Regulations, 2021 has issued an order stating that the manufacturing facilities maintained by foreign firms selling milk and meat items are required to be mandatorily registered within 1st February 2023.
The foreign manufacturing facilities which fall under the following categories need to be mandatorily registered:
- Milk and Milk Products;
- Meat and Meat Products including Poultry, Fish, and other products;
- Egg Powder;
- Infant Food;
- Nutraceuticals;
The Appropriate Authorities of all the exporting countries are required to provide for a list of existing manufacturers and those who intend to export the above-mentioned foods in India as per the format prescribed. The following details need to be provided by the Competent Authorities of all exporting countries:
- Country Name
- Name, address and contact details of Competent Authority
- Name, address and contact details of Food Manufacturers
- Approval / License No. issued by the Competent Authority
- Name and HS Code of product/s exported in India
Basis the list provided by the Competent Authority, of the exporting country, FSSAI will register those facilities at its portal.
