FSSAI mandates PAN integration for new and renewed licenses for Food Business Operators through FoSCoS portal

Pursuant to DPIIT’s recommendation to use PAN as a business identity, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has directed Food Business Operators (“FBOs”) to mandatorily link Permanent Account Number (“PAN”) with FSSAI Licenses and Registrations.

Effective since 22nd October, 2024, capturing PAN is mandated for new applications, renewals or modifications through the Food Safety Compliance System (“FoSCoS”) portal.

The existing Licensed/Registered FBOs whose renewal is not due in near future, must update the PAN details under FoSCoS user Profile Section at the earliest.

FBOs applying for registration without PAN are required to submit a declaration for non-possession of PAN.

Further, FBOs are advised to keep their contact details updated under FoSCoS user profile section for receiving regular communications from FSSAI.
