FSSAI to carry out 100% inspection drive to ensure compliance with respect to limits of trans-fatty acids for food products

Further to the trail mail, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has now requested the Commissioners of Food Safety of States/UTs and Central Licensing Authorities to carry out a 100% inspection drive of all such units which are licensed for manufacture/processing of vegetable oils/fats under their respective jurisdiction and check for compliance of the products being manufactured through surveillance samples.

The above decision has been taken in order to ensure that the above prohibition is effectively enforced across the country with effect from 1st January, 2022 (as discussed in the trail mail).
