Karnataka Govt. modifies COVID-19 induced restrictions across the State; withdraws weekend curfew; night curfew to continue in the State from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am

The Government of Karnataka has notified modifications to existing COVID-19 induced restrictions in light of the lower number of fatalities and severe illnesses in the State. Weekend curfews from Friday 10:00 pm to Monday 5:00 am are withdrawn. However, Night curfew will remain in force in the entire State from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am as per existing guidelines. All other restrictions shall continue to be implemented in the State till 31st January, 2022.
Key Highlights:
Some of the existing restrictions are reiterated as follows:
- Employees working in industries / factories, IT industries etc. are required to be vaccinated with two doses of Covid-19 vaccine and adhere to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour in the workplace;
Note: The local Labour Officer and Health Department official shall verify the vaccine status of the employees working in an establishment within their respective jurisdiction.
- Offices are permitted to function 5 days a week between Monday to Friday;
- All rallies, dharnas, congregations, including social, religious, political protests and procession of any sort are strictly prohibited;
- Pubs/ clubs/ restaurants/ bars / hotels/ cinema halls/ multiplexes are required to adhere to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and allow access to only fully vaccinated people;
- Intensive surveillance will be carried out at the borders of Maharashtra, Kerala and Goa as per prevailing circulars and guidelines issued by the Government of Karnataka.
Penalty:
Persons violating these guidelines are liable to be punished under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act and the Indian Penal Code.
