Labour Department of Gujarat dispenses with requirement to obtain No-objection certificate (NOC) from fire department before making an application for new factory licence or renewal thereof

With a view to speed up the process of obtaining/ renewal of Factory Licence, Labour Department of Gujarat has notified that factories in the State will no longer be required to obtain a No-Objection Certificate (“NOC”), from the fire department under the Factories Act, prior to applying for a new factory licence or before renewal of the same.

Background:

The issue regarding the issue of fire NOCs to the industries in the State is yet to be resolved by the Government. Therefore, the above-mentioned requirement has been dispensed with.
