With a view to promote ease of doing business, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (“MPCB”) has simplified the processing of consent applications made by green category industries which are classified as less polluting. This simplified process is effective immediately.
Key highlights:
- While processing of applications for Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate/Renewal of green category units, the MPCB officials will not undertake site visit or physical inspection.
- The applications submitted by green category industries will be processed based on self-certification submitted by the project proponents as given below:
- For Consent to Establish: Submit a Self-Certification by the applicant stating that the proposed site is in compliance with the Siting Criteria prescribed under various Environmental acts/notifications for the said category. Further, it is mandatory to submit Building/Development permission.
- For Consent to Operate: Submit a Self-Certification by the applicant confirming compliance with applicable Environmental Norms and adherence to conditions stipulated in the previously issued consent.
- All applications and declarations must be submitted mandatorily through the online consent management system of MPCB. Submission of physical documents will not be accepted.
- The MPCB reserves the right to carry out random inspections or audits based on specific credible information suggesting non-compliance or misrepresentation of the facts, despite site visit not required for processing of consent applications.
- This is also applicable for Consent to Establish for expansion.
