Prior Environmental Clearance (EC) no longer required for recycling units of Lead Acid Batteries registered under the Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules, 2001; MoEFCC clarifies applicability

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in a recent notification dated 5th May, 2022 has exempted the recycling units of Lead Acid Batteries registered under the Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules, 2001 from the requirement of prior Environmental Clearance (EC) as per the provisions of EIA Notification, 2006.
