FSSAI issues directions w.r.t. ensuring compliance with labelling requirements of Multi Source Edible Vegetable Oil; report on action taken to be submitted to FSSAI Head Quarters by 1st June, 2022

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has notified directions regarding compliance regarding labelling of Multi Source Edible Vegetable Oils and it is requested to check and verify labels of all such oil products and manufacturers of the same. In case of violation by any Food Business Operators, notices will be immediately issued to them under intimation to the FSSAI Head Quarters. Action taken report in this regard must also be submitted in the prescribed format (please refer to attachment for details) by 1st June, 2022.
As per the provisions of the FSS (Prohibition and Restriction on Sales) Regulations, 2011, Multi-Source Edible Vegetable Oil may not be sold under the common or generic name of any oil used in the blend. Further, the FSS (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020 states that every package containing an admixture of edible oils must be accompanied by a declaration specifying the name, nature of each edible vegetable oil used in the preparation and their percentage by weight, immediately below the brand/trade name on front of the pack.
