FSSAI issues Draft Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Amendment Regulations, 2022, invites objections or suggestions by 17th July, 2022

In continuation to what we reported earlier in the trailing e-mail, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has proposed a draft of the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Amendment Regulations, 2022 (“Amendment”) with a view to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018.
Objections or Suggestions, if any, must be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, FDA Bhawan, Kotla Road, New Delhi- 110002 or must be sent by e-mail at (regulation@fssai.gov.in) by 17th July, 2022.
The draft amendment proposes that products made of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) may now be used for packaging, storing, carrying or dispensing of food products, whenever the Food Authority notifies standards and guidelines relating to the same. Further, such packaging materials are required to also comply with any other applicable national standards or regulations.
