Procedure for registration of Producers/Manufacturers in offline mode under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 laid down by the CPCB

Under the provisions of the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 (“Rules”), a *Producer or a person involved in manufacturing of Battery is required to register with the Central Pollution Control Board (“CPCB”) by making an application in Form 1(A) through the online centralised portal developed by the CPCB.
As per the Rules, CPCB will establish the online system for the registration and filing returns by producers, recyclers, and refurbishers of Waste Battery within six months of commencement of these rules i.e., by 22nd February, 2023.
Since, the online portal is under development, offline mode has been made acceptable for the time being to receive applications for registration. In view of this, the CPCB has laid down the following procedure of registration of producer/manufacturer in offline mode:
- A producer/manufacturer is required to duly fill in Form 1(A) and submit the softcopy of the same through email at (batteries.cpcb@gov.in) and the hardcopy to the Member Secretary, CPCB at Central Pollution Control Board, Parivesh Bhawan, East Arjun Nagar, Delhi – 110032;
- The application is required to be made only from the company’s email ID;
- Along with the application form, the following documents must also be submitted by the Producer/Manufacturer;

- TIN Number;
- CIN Number;
- Pan Card of Company;
- Self-attested copy of GST and
- Aadhar Card if authorized person
The registration will be granted for a period of six months and will be renewed through the online centralised portal once the same is operational and meanwhile, the collection of application fees will be deferred and the fees will be realised at the time of registration through the online portal.
