Environment Ministry amends the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986 revising the emission standards for industrial boilers

In furtherance to what we reported earlier, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has notified the Environment (Protection) Amendment Rules, 2023 (“Amendment”) with a view to further amend the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986 (“Rules”). The Amendment is slated to gain effect from 17th May, 2025 i.e., on the expiry of 2 years from the date of publication.

The Amendment notifies changes in the Schedule appended to the Rules and revises the emission standards for industrial boilers.
