Permission to keep Shops and Establishments in Telangana open on all days in a year, extended till 16th June, 2025 subject to fulfilment of specific conditions

In continuation to what we reported earlier in the e-mail below, the Labour Department of Telangana has permitted shops and establishments to remain open on all 365 days of the year till 16th June, 2025 as against 16th June, 2022 upon fulfilment of the following conditions:

  • The working hours of the employees must be 8 hours per day and 48 hours in a week and record of over time must be maintained in the Wages Register separately in respect of the employees who worked beyond normal working hours;
  • Every employee must be allowed to avail a Weekly Holiday as per the list exhibited at the main entrance of the shop on rotation basis;
  • Working hours of the shop shall be between 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.;
  • In case, women employees are engaged to work beyond 8:30 p.m., transport arrangements must be made for them. A notice to this effect in Telugu and English shall be exhibited at the main entrance of the shop indicating the availability of transport;
  • All employees must be provided with Appointment Letters and a copy of the same must be furnished to the jurisdiction Inspector. Further, an acknowledgement must be preserved in the shop for inspection at any time;
  • Visit Book must be maintained exhibiting a copy of the exemption for verification by the Inspector for compliance with the conditions on exemption;
  • The wages for the employees must be credited to their saving bank accounts;
  • EPF & ESI deductions must be implemented in respect of the eligible employees;
  • The Employer must cooperate in implementing the “Duties of Inspection” as per the provisions of the Telangana Shops & Establishments Rules, 1990 and other Labour Laws especially with regard to the implementation of the conditions for the workers employed in their shops;

In case, there is any statutory violation committed by the Employer, the exemption will be cancelled before the sanction period.
