Ministry of Commerce and Industry notifies Boiler Operation Engineers’ Rules, 2025 with immediate effect; supersedes Boiler Operations’ Rules, 2021

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the Boiler Operation Engineers’ Rules, 2025 (“Rules”) with immediate effect, thereby superseding the earlier Boiler Operation Rules, 2021.

Key Highlights:

1. Owners are required to notify the Chief Inspector/Director of Boilers within seven days of engaging a new boiler in-charge, providing full particulars and certificate details.
2. It is mandatory for individuals to have a valid certificate of proficiency to be in-charge of a boiler as a Boiler Operation Engineer.
3. Lays down provisions relating to the examination, eligibility criteria and grant of certificates to Operation Engineers.
