Ministry of Labour and Employment issues notification clarifying the repeal of three labour laws with effect from 21st November 2025

The Ministry of Labour and Employment (“MOLE”) has issued a notification clarifying the repeal of three labour laws with effect from 21st November 2025.
The notification, issued under Section 104 read with Section 1(3) of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, states that the following Acts have been repealed:
- Trade Unions Act, 1926 (16 of 1926).
- Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946 (20 of 1946).
- Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947).
This follows the earlier notification dated 21st November 2025 which appointed the same date for the commencement of provisions under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.
