Andhra Pradesh Govt. notifies the Industrial Relations Code (Andhra Pradesh) Rules, 2026, effective from 12th June, 2026

The Andhra Pradesh Government has notified the Industrial Relations (Andhra Pradesh) Rules, 2026 (“Rules”). These rules are effective from June 12, 2026 (i.e., the date of publication in the official gazette).The key highlights of these Rules include the following:

- In case there are women workers employed in an Industrial establishment, the employer must ensure that the Works Committee has an adequate representation of women workers and such representation shall not be less than the proportion of women workers to the total workers employed in the industrial establishment
- Employers are required to submit the details of the constitution and the functioning of the Committee as a part of unified annual return provided in the rules made in this behalf under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Condition Code, 2020.
- The Grievance Redressal Committee in an industrial establishment employing twenty or more workers, must consist of an equal number of members representing the employer and workers, which shall not exceed ten.
- Provisions mandating written agreements between employers and workers for dispute settlements, to be submitted to Conciliation Officers on prescribed forms.
- Constitution of Works Committees within industrial establishments including representation from both employers and workers.
- In case of a group of employers engaged in similar industrial establishments, they may, after consultation with the concerned Trade Union, submit a joint draft of standing order for similar establishments.
- Submission of notice for change to workers likely to be affected by change, in case of intention to effect any change in the conditions of service applicable to any worker in respect of any matter specified in the Third Schedule to the Code.
- Procedures for strikes, lockouts, layoffs, retrenchment, and closure.
