The Central Pollution Control Board (“CPCB”) has directed the State Pollution Control Boards (“SPCBs”) and Pollution Control Committees (“PCCs”) to ensure that all industries (in their respective jurisdiction) which have installed Online Continuous Emission and Effluent Monitoring Systems (“OCEMS”), or are mandated to do so, strictly comply with the revised protocols relating to OCEMS calibration and alert mechanisms.
Background
CPCB through its direction dated 29.12.2017 directed the SPCBs to ensure that all the red category – air polluting industries located in National Capital Region and Delhi to install online continuous stack emission Monitoring Systems in red category-air polluting industries and ensure connection with OCEMS with the servers of CPCB/SPCB/ PC
Consequently, on 18.06.2019 ,the CPCB directed the SPCBs to ensure closure of all medium and large-scale red category air polluting industries which have not installed and connected online continuous Stack Emission Monitoring Systems with CPCB and SPCB/PCC servers. Now, the CPCB has directed all industries under the same jurisdictions that have installed OCEMS or are required to do so, to strictly comply with the revised protocols relating to OCEMS for calibration and alerts.
