DoT commences registration of ‘Machine to Machine’ (M2M) service providers & WPAN / WLAN Connectivity Provider for M2M Services on the Saral Sanchar Portal

The Department of Telecommunications had recently issued Guidelines for Registration Process of M2M Service Providers (M2MSP) & WPAN/WLAN Connectivity Provider for M2M Services (refer to e-mail in trail for details) and Guidelines for licensing process for UL/ UL VNO (M2M) to address concerns like connectivity with TSPs, KYC, traceability and encryption for service providers.

In these guidelines, it has been envisaged that entities offering / providing the M2M services based on SIM/ LAN must register as M2MSP and entities which use WPAN/WLAN technologies for providing M2M connectivity, operating in unlicensed spectrum, must register as WPAN/WLAN Connectivity Providers.

Additionally, the Licensees must be the entities who own the underlying network to provide connectivity and related services for M2M service Providers. The Licensee can also provide M2M services exclusively through LPWAN or equivalent technologies using unlicensed/licensed spectrum.

To obtain registration/license, entities may visit SaralSanchar portal (https://saralsanchar.gov.in/ ). The guidelines, user manual and FAQs are also available on the portal.
