DPIIT issues amendment to the Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016

Tthe Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (“DPIIT”) has issued the Gas Cylinders (Amendment) Rules, 2026 (“Amendment Rules”) to amend certain provisions of the Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016 (“Principal Rules”).
Key Highlights:
- The following imports are exempted from obtaining landing permission of the Commissioner of Customs:
- empty cylinders without valves, and
- valves and LPG regulators imported from foreign manufacturing plants approved by the Chief Controller and having valid Form-D import licence.
- Exemption from requirement of obtaining No Objection Certificate (“NOC”) for obtaining a Form F license for storage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas or other flammable gases in cylinders, provided a NOC is obtained from the concerned local body.
