Establishments registered under Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act required to display Name Boards in Marathi language in Devnagari script, irrespective of number of workers employed

The Government of Maharashtra has introduced further amendments to the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017 (“Act”).
Key Highlights:
- Establishments registered under the Act are required to display the Name Board in Marathi language in Devnagari Script;
Note: Employers of such establishments may also have the Name Board in any other language and script in addition to the above-mentioned, subject to the lettering in Marathi written in the beginning on the Name Board and the font size of the letters in Marathi Language shall not be smaller than the font size of letters in any other language;
- Identity card to be issued to each worker by the employer need not contain the Aadhar card number of the worker;
- Establishments (where liquor is served) may not have a Name Board in the name of legends or forts.
