FSSAI issues SOP for mandatory modification of old methodology license or migration of State license for manufacturing of Nutraceuticals and related products; effective immediately

Previously, vide Order dated 27th December, 2021,(summarized in the trail mail), the period for modification/ migration of license by existing FSSAI Licensed Manufacturers was extended till 31st March, 2022.

 Now, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued a Standard Operating Procedure for mandatory modification of old methodology license or migration of State license for manufacturing of Nutraceuticals and related products which has gained effect immediately and must be followed in case a Food Business Operator intends to renew their existing license.

Key Takeaways of the SOP:

1. Only Food Business Operators who have validity of their license (initially issued through the FLRS portal) remaining, can get their license modified to standardized product selection methodology of FoSCoS or can migrate their license from State to Central license or get the same renewed through the FoSCoS portal within the validity period of license;
2. Only FBOs who have modified their license as per the procedure stated above will be allowed to apply for renewal of their license on the FoSCoS portal.
