Himachal Pradesh Govt. increases threshold limit for applicability of Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act to ‘thirty or more workmen’ (as opposed to twenty workmen); repeals Ordinance

The Government of Himachal Pradesh has issued the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Himachal Pradesh Amendment Act, 2020 (“Amendment”) which repeals the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Himachal Pradesh Amendment Ordinance, 2020 (please refer to detailed description in the trailing e-mail).

With the present amendment gaining effect, the threshold of applicability of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 in Himachal Pradesh has been increased to 30 or more workmen as against the earlier threshold of 20.
