In sync with Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017, Andhra Pradesh Govt. rolls out complementary State Rules proposing Crèche and WFH facility to women employees entitled to maternity benefit

In sync with the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017, where employers are required to set up a crèche facility upon having 50 or more employees and allow women employees entitled to maternity benefit to work from home, if the nature of work assigned to her is such that she may work from home, the Andhra Pradesh Labour Department proposes the following amendments to the State Maternity Benefit Rules:
- Increasing the number of nursing breaks to four as against two for a period of 15 minutes each during the course of her daily work;
- Setting up a crèche within 250 metres from the place of work by every establishment.
- Applying to the employer under “Form Q” for intending to work from home.
- Enabling commissioning mother and adopting mother to claim maternity benefit by making an application in “Form P”..
