IRDAI clarifies that health insurance policies will cover the costs of treatments for infections occuring due to Omicron variant of COVID-19

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has clarified that all health insurance policies issued by all general and health insurance companies that cover the treatment cost of Covid-19 will also cover the costs of treatments towards Omicron Variant as per the terms and conditions of policy contract.

Insurance companies are directed to put in place effective co-ordination mechanism with all their network providers (hospitals) for making available seamless cashless facility to all policyholders in case of hospitalisation (if any) and render speedy services to all policyholders.
