Ministry of Commerce exempts micro and small manufacturing units from ‘Footwear Made from all Rubber and all Polymeric Material and its Components (Quality Control) Order, 2022

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (“Ministry”) has amended the ‘Footwear Made from all Rubber and all Polymeric Material and its Components (Quality Control) Order, 2022 (“Order”) to notify that the micro and small manufacturing units as defined under Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 are exempt from the applicability of the provisions of the Order with effect since 18th August, 2022.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (“Ministry”) has notified the ‘Footwear Made from all Rubber and all Polymeric Material and its Components (Quality Control) Order, 2022’ (“Order”). The provisions of the Order shall gain effect from 1st July, 2023.
The Order prescribes applicable Indian Standards for different types of footwear made from Rubber and all Polymeric Material. The Order further states that such footwear shall bear a Standard Mark prescribed under licence obtained from the Bureau as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Ministry has further clarified that the provisions of the Order will not be applicable to goods or articles meant for export.
