The Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (“MoEFCC”) has issued a public order on 17th May, 2024 extending the timeline for filing of quarterly and annual returns under the E- Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 until 30th June, 2024 for FY 2023-24.
The E- Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 imposes obligations on manufacturers, producers, recyclers and refurbishers collectively referred to as the “registered entities”, for filing their annual and quarterly returns on CPCB portal on or before the end of the month succeeding the year. For the financial year 2023-2024 the last date of filing the annual and quarterly returns was 30th April, 2024, however, the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (“MoEFCC”) in exercise of powers conferred by Rule 9A of the E- Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 has extended the timeline for FY 2023-2024 until 30th June, 2024. It is further clarified that during this period the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) certificate generation and transfer will be carried out on the EPR portal.
Background:
On 4th May 2024 CPCB had shared an email with MoEFCC requesting the Ministry to extend the timeline for filing of quarterly and annual reports until 30th June, 2024 for FY 2023-24, in view of the representations received from Industry Association for extension of timeline.
Now the Ministry after careful consideration and in accordance with Rule 9A of the E- Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, has issued this order thereby extending the timeline for filing of quarterly and annual returns by registered entities under the E- Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 until 30th June 2024 for FY 2023-24.
