The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (“PESO”) has issued an Order directing all manufacturers, importers, fillers and traders of High-Pressure Cylinders used for filling non-toxic and non-flammable gases to affix a Barcode or QR code on each cylinder. This requirement is with a view to enhance tracking and ensure public safety under the Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016 (the “Principal Rules”).
This Order follows discussions with the All-India Industrial Gases Manufacturer’s Association (“AIIGMA”) and various stakeholders regarding the implementation and challenges of the Principal Rules.
