The Government of Karnataka has issued a draft circular inviting comments on granting one day leave with pay to women workers engaged in various industries during their menstrual cycle (“Draft Circular”). Relevant stakeholders including factories, industries, company owners, various organizations etc. may send their comments by 2nd December, 2024.
Objections or suggestions, if any, may be addressed to Labour Commissioner, Karmika Bhavan, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore-560029 or sent on email at dicbangalore@gmail.com in the attached format.
Background:
An expert committee was formed comprising of various levels of officials of the Labor Department, doctors, business owners and representatives of working classes etc. to discuss and submit a report regarding the grant paid leave on the first day of the monthly menstrual cycle to women workers working in various industries.
