Puducherry Govt. mandates registration and renewal of licence for factories under the Factories Act through online mode only

The Government of Puducherry (“Government”) has mandated registration and renewal of licence for factories though online mode only (under the Factories Act, 1948). The online portal shall be accessed through the website of Labour Department, Puducherry.

The prima facie objective for availing the services through online mode is to-

• eliminate the need to submit the applications physically;
• payment of fess for the services;
• track their status in each stage;

On approval, the final certificate can be downloaded from the online portal anytime.

The Order shall gain effect immediately and the present practice of issuing signed copy of such certificate is dispensed with except those already applied and is under issue.

Note: Further amendments to license will continue to be issued in physical mode until the online application for amendment to factory license is launched.
