University Grants Commission invites feedback/suggestion on the draft of Comprehensive Accessibility Guidelines and Standards for Higher Educational Institutions and Universities by 7th March, 2022

The University Grants Commission has invited feedback / suggestion on the draft guidelines on Comprehensive Accessibility Guidelines and Standards for Higher Educational Institutions and Universities, with a view to support Higher Educational Institutions in all possible manner so that person with disabilities (disabilities) have easy access to higher education.

The feedback/suggestion on the draft guidelines are invited latest by 7.03.2022 on the University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP) of UGC at https://ugc.ac.in/uamp/

Background

The Government of India has launched the Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) to ensure the equal participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities in activities. Recognising, accommodating, and meeting the needs of the persons with disabilities coming from diverse backgrounds, it becomes the primary responsibility for the Higher Education Institution to provide the facilities that enable persons with disabilities having diverse socio-economic backgrounds to live independently and participate fully in all aspects of their educational life at HEIs.
