West Bengal Pollution Control Board mandates phasing out single use plastic items in the State by 30th June, 2022; violation will lead to closure of operations of Industries / Commercial Establishments

The West Bengal Pollution Control Board has recently, in a Public Notice, informed its mandate to phase out single use plastic items in the State by 30th June, 2022.
All producers, importers, brand owners, stockists, retailers, shopkeepers, e-commerce companies, street vendors, commercial establishments (malls, market places / shopping centres/cinema houses/tourist locations, schools, office complexes, marriage houses/ hospitals and other Institutions) and general public in the State are accordingly informed to stop the production, stocking, distribution, sale and use of identified Single Use Plastic items by 30th June, 2022.
Violation will lead to seizure of goods, levying of environmental compensation, closure of operations of Industries / Commercial Establishments.
