In continuation to what we have reported earlier (refer to the trail mail) and further to the partial modification of the FSSAI Order dated 11.01.2023 (enclosed as a part of the recent Order), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has issued an Order to streamline the validity period while applying for new license / registration.
Starting 8th November 2023, Food Business Operators applying for new license / registration and its renewal will be able to select the validity period of 1 to 5 years in their applications, with applicable fees for the selected period as per Food Safety and Standards (‘FSS’) (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
Background:
The renewal of license / registration after submission of the application by the FBOs were instantly granted, without requiring approval of the concerned authority, subject to the conditions that:
- For License: The validity period for renewal of the license will be for 1 year only.
- For Registration: The validity for renewal will be continued for a period of 1-5 years, based on the selection and payment made by the FBO in the application.
