With a view towards Ease of Doing Business, Now, FBOs applying for new license/registration or renewal will be able to select the validity period of 1 to 5 years while making applications

In continuation to what we have reported earlier (refer to the trail mail) and further to the partial modification of the FSSAI Order dated 11.01.2023 (enclosed as a part of the recent Order), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has issued an Order to streamline the validity period while applying for new license / registration.

Starting 8th November 2023, Food Business Operators applying for new license / registration and its renewal will be able to select the validity period of 1 to 5 years in their applications, with applicable fees for the selected period as per Food Safety and Standards (‘FSS’) (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.

Background:

The renewal of license / registration after submission of the application by the FBOs were instantly granted, without requiring approval of the concerned authority, subject to the conditions that:

  • For License: The validity period for renewal of the license will be for 1 year only.

 

  • For Registration: The validity for renewal will be continued for a period of 1-5 years, based on the selection and payment made by the FBO in the application.
