Govt. of Chandigarh eases Covid-19 restrictions; imposes restrictions on movement of International Travellers

The Government of Chandigarh has notified further easing of Covid-19 restrictions in the Union Territory and notified the following relaxations with immediate effect;

1. Wearing of masks shall be compulsory for all individuals moving for any purpose whatsoever;

2. International travellers coming from specified countries at risk will be tested at the arrival airport and if tested negative, they will follow home quarantine for 7 days. Re-test shall be conducted on the 8th day of arrival in India and if negative, further self-monitoring of their health for next 7 days shall be followed. Along with this, all the owners/managers/ care-takers, etc. of the Hotels/Guest Houses/Sarai’s, etc. shall ascertain international travel history of their guests since last 15 days, at the time of their check-in and prohibit the stay in their premises of person(s) not following the guidelines;

3. Gathering for any purpose should be restricted to 200 persons for indoor and 500 persons for outdoor venues or 50% of the full capacity, whichever is lower;

4. School and coaching institutions will continue functioning in hybrid (offline/online mode);

5. The Administration has further directed the closure of Mini Covid Care centres owing to steady decline in Covid cases.

Any violation of these restrictions shall invite action under Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code along with other applicable laws.
