BBMP mandates online renewal of Trade Licenses for 2025-26: traders face 25% to100% penalty for late applications post February 2025

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (“BBMP”) has issued a public notice regarding the renewal process for Trade Licenses applicable for the year 2025-26. The notification delineates key procedural requirements for traders operating within BBMP’s jurisdiction.

Key highlights:

  • Trade licenses may now be renewed for a period ranging from one to five years (‘April to March’), based on the trader’s preference;
  • The renewal fee will be based on the number of financial years selected by the trader;
  • Payment options include online transactions or remittance through bank challan at Canara Bank;
  • Renewal timelines and penalty structure:
    1. 1st February 2025 – 28th February 2025: Renewal without penalty.
    2. 1st March 2025 – 31st March 2025: Renewal with a 25% penalty on the prescribed fee.
    3. From 1st April 2025 onwards: Renewal with a 100% penalty on the prescribed fee.
  • The renewal application must be submitted exclusively through online mode.
