Ministry of Civil Aviation notifies the Drone (Amendment) Rules, 2022; date for registration of unmanned aircraft systems extended till 31st March, 2022

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has notified further amendments to the Drone Rules, 2021. The amendments have been effective since 11th February 2022.
Key Highlights:
• The date for registration of unmanned aircraft systems has been extended till 31st March, 2022, as opposed to the earlier requirement of getting an unmanned aircraft system (acquired on or before 30th November, 2021) registered within thirty one days;
• Requirement for Remote Pilot Licence is dispensed with and Remote Pilot Certificate issued by the authorised training institutes shall suffice for operating drones;
• Along with the above-mentioned, amendments w.r.t Application for Type Certificate, Application for Registration of Unique Identification Number, Application for Transfer or Deregistration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Application for Remote Pilot Licence (To Be Filed By Rpto) And Application For Authorization Of Remote Pilot Training Organization have also been made.
