Timeline for filing annual returns by Producers under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 for FY 2025-26 extended till 30th November, 2026

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has extended the timeline for filing of annual returns by registered Producers under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 (“Rules”) for FY 2025-26 till 30th November, 2026. The extension has been made due to operational and technical challenges in timely compilation and reconciliation of compliance related data for submission through the centralized EPR Portal.

Background:

The Rules mandate filing the Annual Return by 30th June of the next financial year by producers regarding the waste batteries collected and recycled or refurbished towards fulfilling obligations under Extended Producer Responsibility.
